This is where I link my absolute top favorite webcomics + friends + random coolness + other oddities and usefulness...
- Comics
- I'm not linking any at the moment because there are so many and I feel obligated to have a little blurb about everything I link to.
- Friends
- Ash and Griffin Pottery - Kim Fritts, Mary Henderson, and Stephanie Howe - These three have a travelling shop, going from renfaire to renfaire. I help out in their shop at the Wentzville Renfaire in the summer. When I was a kid I took classes with both Kim and Mary at Craft Alliance [a studio in St. Louis that offers classes to children and adults]. I also do some apprenticing for Kim and will be hanging out with her at the Artists Alley in Archon. Awesome people, awesome work, check 'em out!
- Conventions, etc
- Archon - St. Louis' biggest Scifi/Fantasy Convention, located in Collinsville, IL. Archon 28 was the first con I attended and it's absolutely fabulous! Over 2000 people attend and it's typically 4 days long. I have had the luck of attending it twice now.
- ShowMeCon - Another St. Louis convention but dramatically smaller. I've only been to ShowMeCon 3, it was the first time I displayed my art in a convention ArtShow...a wonderful experience. Although small, there are plenty of social opportunities and it's generally fun.
- The St. Louis Renaissance Faire at Wentzville - I've been attending this RenFaire for years. It's delightful and quite extensive. You can walk through it several times and still find new booths to explore and people to talk to. Next year I'm hoping to have a few prints available in their print shop, so look out for me!
- The St. Louis Pagan Picnic - I always have a good time at the Picnic, and hopefully starting in 2008 I'll be selling prints in the printshop [same as with the Renfaire]. I'll be updating my calendar and MrooArt hub with news of that in the future, so keep an eye out!
- Miscellaneous Links
- Orisinal Games - This is an adorable site full of oodles of very cute but fun games. The artwork is beautiful, the design is clean, and most of the games are very well made [a few of them I don't like the controls for]. I think my favorite game is "The Truth is Up There" where you try to catch the best video footage of UFOs that you possibly canso that you can sell it to the news for the highest price. This is too cute and may eat up a lot of your time. Have fun!
- Resources
- DickBlick Art Supplies - An excellent place to order art supplies [or buy in person, if you live near one of their stores]. I usually order from them rather than buying from the local store when I'm at school, as they tend to keep things in stock and are still cheaper despite shipping costs...
