Conventions
Archon - Archon 28 was my first convention, and it definitely got me hooked. I have since attended every Archon except 29, as that was my freshman year of college and I wasn't sure about missing a weekend when I might have projects. Although I was right to be concerned, I was still extraordinarily annoyed that I didn't attend.

Favorite Comics

[It should be noted that I once read nearly 100 comics on a regular basis, and have gone through the archives of well over that amount [it's hard to follow comics that aren't updating anymore ^_^].]

El Goonish Shive - I have been reading this comic since sometime in 2003. I was once having a conversation with a friend, and he asked, "You do realize EGS is just one big fanfic, right?" to which I responded "SHHHHHHH!".. The artwork and storytelling have both improved tremendously since it began in 2002, so it may be a little difficult to get into at this point.
Friendly Hostility - Goofy fantastical slice-of-life comic, including a demon that comes from the refridgerator and becomes a man-nurse.
Girls With Slingshots - This is easily my favorite comic. This is a woman comic without an agenda -- it's just fun and mostly based on women. Very clean and consistent artwork, excellent anatomy, and believable characters.
Least I Could Do - This comic has survived through a couple of artist switches. It's mostly comprised of guy humor and occasionally geek humor.
Odd-Fish - Fish-based puns, excellent hatched artwork. Really need to read it to understand its magic.
Questionable Content - The artwork of QC has made leaps and bounds since its inception; Jeph Jacques is not afraid of experimenting with this comic. Indie music-based humor [much of which goes over my head], but also plenty of scifi references and puns to keep me happy, not to mention the everyday slightly-fantastical slice-of-life storyline.
Three Panel Soul - Updating only once a week, TPS still packs a punch. Matt and Ian started creating this comic a little while after they ended their old comic Mac Hall [which I also followed]. It's a very fresh approach to the classic three-panel format and definitely worth a glance.
xkcd - Gag-a-Day [with occasional through storylines], geek humor. As the tagline says, "A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language." As a computer science major, this comic is a must.
