Shannon Dybvig is a nineteen-year-old geek who is attending Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She's planning on majoring in Computer Science and Studio Art [drawing concentration]. Some of her viewing favorites are Star Trek [all incarnations], Stargate SG-1, Farscape, Firefly, Serial Experiments: Lain, Haibane Renmei, Cowboy Bebop, and Neurotically Yours [aka Foamy the Squirrel]. She built her computer [ZingMroo] in March of 2005. It was probably the fourth one she's built.

Shannon has been drawing for most of her life. During mid-elementary school Shannon began to work with clay as well, both pottery and hand-building [though favoring the latter]. She stopped taking art classes during her freshman and sophomore years in high school due to a lack of space in her schedule. In her junior year she took a 3D art class and in her senior year she took AP Art Studio, making a 3D portfolio.

Throughout her artistic experiences, Shannon had a tendency towards realistic drawing although she was always far more enticed by more comicky styles. At the beginning of her junior year she started playing with comic and manga styletypes. It was the meld of these styles with her already-established realism that resulted in her current style. As with any artist, this style continues to grow as the artist learns and is exposed to new ideas, techniques, and styles.

During her freshman year, Shannon took Intro Drawing I/II, as well as 2D and 3D design. One of the drawings she created in her Drawing I class made it into the Student Show and received an Honorable Mention. In the first semester of her sophomore year she will continue pursuing drawing on the intermediate level, as well as painting.
